2. Product description
In order to ensure passing on the small radius curve of urban rail and reflect its operational flexibility, modern tram vehicles mostly use a 3-9m short body, with each vehicle as a module, and are grouped through different forms of hinge devices. The three commonly used hinge devices are fixed hinges, rotating hinges, and free hinges.
2.1 fixed hinges
The fixed hinge mainly consists of a mounting seat and joint bearings, which can transmit vertical force, longitudinal force, and transverse force. It is generally installed on the lower side of the module, as shown in the figure. Joint bearings can limit the translation in three directions while allowing the modules on both sides to rotate around each other in three directions.
2.2 rotating hinges
The rotating hinge mainly consists of a mounting seat, joint bearings, rubber nodes, adjustment devices, and other parts, which can withstand lateral and longitudinal forces. It is generally installed on the upper side of the module, as shown in the figure. Joint bearings and rubber nodes can rotate relative to their respective pins, without limiting vertical translation. The combination of fixed and rotating hinges restricts the sinking and rolling motion between adjacent modules, resulting in adjacent vehicles having only relative degrees of freedom to shake their heads, i.e. rotating with each other in a horizontal plane, which is beneficial for vehicles to pass through horizontal curves.
2.2 Free hinges
The free hinge mainly consists of installation seat, rod end joint bearing, adjustment device, etc., which only bears lateral force and is generally installed on the upper side of the module, as shown in the figure. Free hinges do not restrict vertical, longitudinal translation, and rotation in three directions between adjacent modules, only limiting lateral translation. The combination of free hinges and fixed hinges can limit the rolling motion between vehicles without restricting the nodding motion, which is beneficial for vehicles to cross vertical curves.
